Star Wars is about more than epic battles, strange creatures, and breathtaking chase sequences. A significant portion of the appeal of this history-altering franchise comes from the amazing array of gadgets that populate the films, animated shows, comic books, and novels that define this universe. If you move through the films in particular, going all the way up to the recent Force Awakens, you will find several memorable Star Wars gadgets.
If you had to make a list of the top Star Wars gadgets, there are a few entries you would definitely have to consider.
With Star Wars Rogue One due for release soon, we are certain to get some new Star Wars gadgets to check out. For now, if you had to make up a list of the top 5 gadgets in Star Wars, you would have to include the following:
1.Breathing under water: Say what you want about The Phantom Menace, but there is no question that the ability to breathe under water would be pretty amazing. What would you do with such a power? Would you explore the depths of the ocean? Would the Titanic become an underwater tourist trap?
2.Holographic communication: There are a number of ways in which to get in touch with someone in a galaxy far far away. For our money, holographic communication is definitely our favorite way of communication in Star Wars. We have seen things like video phones come and go, but that’s hardly the same thing.
3.Light saber: You know without question that any respectable list of Star Wars gadgets would have to include the iconic light saber. Even people who haven’t seen these films are familiar with what are essential laser swords. The Force Awakens showed off a new option, but we still prefer the original one we were introduced to in A New Hope.
4.Grapple Gun: The grapple gun concept exists in the real world. Not surprisingly however, it is a much cooler thing in the Star Wars universe. You can’t even begin to fully appreciate the things you could accomplish with your own grapple gun.
5.Carbon freeze: No one wants to end up like Han Solo did at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. However, the ability to freeze our enemies is another matter altogether. Some of us don’t want to admit it, but being able to freeze someone in carbonite is something that sounds pretty cool.
